What Successful Managers Don’t Do (Part 4)

Successful managers are not willing to be shown as heroes of the company who do and know everything instead of his people.

They know very well that doing everything and looking for a solution for each problem, which appears just to show to their people who is the smartest, the best and the most hardworking person in the company, is the biggest stupidity in management.

There are managers, who goes so far with this mistake to do the job instead of their employees, that after they finish it, they say: “ See, the employees are lazy, they don’t care about the work; I’m doing everything, therefore I do not have any time; I’m like fireman, who has to extinguish any fire;  They don’t take any responsibility; There is no way to motivate them and etc.”

Till the moment you think of yourself as the person who CAN, KNOW and DO each activity in the company and who has to show this to the employees, you will remain fireman. What I have observed lately is that there are some managers, who are very proud to be a fireman. They even feel good complaining of no time and having a lot of stress in order to emphasize their superiority. If this is your case – then OK. Just stop complaining and continue your game. After all, your choice is above everything.

But if you are doing everything, because you are afraid to delegate since you do not know if the task will be finished as demand it and if your employees are lying to you or just pretending that they work, then there are several solutions:

  1. Don’t accept every problem which your team gives you. After all, you have a team because you need them to solve the problems and do the job. Ask solutions from them.

  2. You have to know that there are different kind of people, which determine to whom you can delegate bigger or lesser responsibility and from you to expect what. This is something any manager should know – the real person behind the mask in order to understand his abilities and loyalty. The knowledge of people gives us calmness and bigger control. It also gives us the possibility very fast to determine who to do what and who is relay able, responsible and trust-able.  This is something that saves not only time but also a disappointment. There are some rules which can help you to get this knowledge, for this you have to contact us or come to FREE BOSS seminar.

  3.  Follow their results. Nobody said you have to use trust in order to feel good in a delegation. Actually the opposite – you need facts. The result is a fact, so keep a track on that and delegation will become easy.
